As part of my training plan I have joined www.jantastic.me (organised by the podcast Marathontalk) as a member of Liz Yelling's 'Jogger's' - not convinced about this team name - however I was one run short for this week so despite the marathon Saturday rolled out of bed early for a pre-breakfast run from Low Newton - on - Sea to Dunstanburgh , which stands on a wave-battered headland to the South. Beautiful morning with only a few dogs and a sole racehorse out for some exercise. One of those iconic days when it's great to be a runner...

The Training Continues...

This weekend travelled up to Northumberland for the endurancelife CTS marathon starting next to Alnwick Castle (Hogwarts in Harry Potter) towards the coat then up the Coastal path and several wide sandy beaches to Bamburgh Castle. Good training run, flat but useful for practicing pacing and nutrition and a really beautiful region that I had not explored before. The weather was kind to us for the 27 mile race, windy but the rain held off until later in the afternoon

Gradually upping the mileage to 50 miles a week by the beginning of April and have added some TRX and Body Pump sessions at Everyone Active, Fareham to start to strengthen my core and back for the 2,000 metre climbs and descents each day.

Have travelled to Queen Elizabeth Country Park to complete some long hilly runs and to Portland Dorset and Exmoor for some further technical trail:

Portland, Dorset - Coastal Path

Portland Bill
Portland - some more technical trail
